This Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Banana Bread is a hit amongst the whole family! It’s melt-in-your-mouth delicious and is ready in just 30 minutes.
This recipe has a little more sugar than my Gluten-Free Zucchini Banana Bread, but it is still lower in sugar than many banana bread recipes. It also uses maple syrup instead of using white or brown sugar.

Why You’ll Love This Banana Bread
- Quick: Unlike most banana bread recipes, this banana bread is ready in just 30 minutes!
- Low Sugar: A little maple syrup and chocolate chips are added to help sweeten the bread beyond the bananas
- Nut-Free: This banana bread is a yummy treat to pack in school lunchboxes, as it’s nut-free! It does contain coconut oil, though coconuts are actually a fruit. If you need to replace the coconut oil, you can do so with olive oil, avocado oil, or butter.
GF Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Banana Bread Ingredients
- Ripe bananas: the banana bread is mostly sweetened naturally by the ripe bananas
- Coconut oil: melted coconut oil helps keep the banana bread moist
- Maple syrup: to add just a touch more of sweetness
- Vanilla: for flavor
- Egg: to bind the ingredients
- Gluten-free oats (blended into a flour): I typically use Trader Joe’s Gluten-Free Rolled Oats. Check your labels to make sure your oats are gluten-free.
- Baking soda: this helps the banana bread rise
- Cinnamon: for a lovely flavor addition
- Salt
- Chocolate chips: be sure that the chocolate chips you choose are gluten-free, like Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips.
- Vegetable oil spray: to grease the loaf pan
How to Make Gluten-Free Oatmeal Banana Bread
STEP 1 – Prepare the batter
Mash bananas in a medium-sized bowl with melted coconut oil. Add maple syrup, vanilla, and egg and mix well.
Blend gluten-free rolled oats in a blender or food processor to create a flour. In a large bowl, add the oat flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt and stir to combine.
Pour banana mixture into the flour mixture and mix until just combined. Add chocolate chips and any optional ingredients (such as walnuts) and mix in evenly.
STEP 2 – Bake
Pour batter into greased loaf pan and bake in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when placed in the center. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
How to Store Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Banana Bread
Store in an air-tight container in the fridge for about 4 days.
To Freeze: Wrap the banana bread tightly in plastic wrap once it’s fully cooled. Then, wrap in aluminum foil or a freezer-safe container. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
How to Serve
I love serving this Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Banana Bread with some almond butter slathered on top for some protein or simply with butter on top. I will pack a little slice in my preschooler’s lunchbox as well.
This quick Banana Bread is delicious with a hot cup of coffee or tea!
